One of the earliest settlements in the West Branch Valley, Muncy and its residents were participants in some of the most significant historic events in the making of the American Frontier, including the French and Indian War and the Revolutionary War.

The Muncy Historical Society and Museum of History, a not-for-profit, all volunteer organization founded in 1936, focuses on preservation and conservation of the rich history and heritage of Muncy and surrounding communities – its people, businesses, education, arts, traditions and folklore – by sponsoring educational programs and activities, through research and publication of our history, and interpretation of the museum’s collection for the community, including schools, colleges, community groups and professional historians

The Lycoming County Historical Society chronicles the history of our region from American Indian occupation through 20th century industry and life. Exhibits include an American Indian gallery, a Fine and Decorative Arts gallery, 19th century period rooms, and the Shempp Model Train exhibit, featuring over 300 toy trains.

One of central Pennsylvania’s premiere attractions, this former 18th-century log tavern and hotel on the Susquehanna River now holds an eclectic collection of decorative arts and antiques, including many Pennsylvania objects. Visitors experience the museum, its garden, gift shop, and a gallery with changing exhibits on history, arts, and culture.
