In 1813, William and Grezel Wood made the arduous journey from Carlisle to Muncy, Pennsylvania to begin life on the farm they had recently purchased. A few months later William died, but Reel persevered and almost 200 years later, members of the Wood family still live in the same brick home that her son constructed in1861. We invite you to join us to experience the history, hospitality, and warmth that are part of a visit to the Inn at Shuttle Hill.
Shuttle Hill House is a large Victorian farmhouse, set in the center of three acres of gardens and lawn. Built in 1861 and expanded in the 1890’s. It offers two separate accommodations, each with a private bath. Currently under renovation, the Main House at Shuttle Hill will be available in Spring 2009.
Our guests are welcome to enjoy the grounds of the house, a great place to find good old-fashioned relaxation. Guests have access to common areas on the first floor of the house.
The Victorian home features a a large parlor with gas fireplace, a baby grand piano, and sofa and chairs ~ a great place to relax at the end of the day.
The study features a marble-top Victorian desk and built-in bookcases. French doors lead to the front porch ~ perfect for small meetings.
The dining room has seating for 12.
The historic summer kitchen has a covered patio and the original working fireplace.
Located close to the Main House, the Guest House has its own parking area and areas for outdoor entertaining. This arrangement provides easy access to the grounds and amenities of the Main House, while at the same time providing the freedom and privacy of a separate residence. It is the perfect setting for families or business travelers who seek the warmth of an Inn setting, with greater freedom to come and go as they please and to entertain family, friends, or colleagues
The Guest House at Shuttle Hill is a one-story home, constructed in the 1950s. It has a master bedroom with en-suite bath, and two additional smaller bedrooms that share a bath. All bedrooms have queen beds. In addition, the house provides a kitchen, dining room, and living room (with wood-burning fireplace). A laundry room with washer, dryer, and ironing board is located in the basement of the home. These areas are complemented by expansive outdoor areas for relaxing and entertaining.
The living area of the home contains an entertainment console with 29” widescreen television. The house offers cable television, cable radio, and wireless internet access. The house also includes a screened patio area as well as flagstone and concrete outdoor patios with gas barbecue grill. The house has a private driveway and private parking for up to four cars.
